'Path to immortality' is a documentary which through various scientific researches on aging that are being carried out in Spain, molecular biologists María Blasco and Manuel Serrano tell us how they have managed to create a "Triple" transgenic mouse to live longer. 

 

 

 

A DEBATE ABOUT THE FILM "PATH TO IMMORTALITY" (Júlia vs Marina)

 

 

Genetic engineering enables scientists to create plants, animals and micro-organisms by manipulating genes in a way that does not occur naturally. 

Hi! We are Julia and Marina, and we do not agree with genetic modification. Julia thinks that genetic modification is not as good as I think.  

Julia: I think that genetic modification is not healthy. There are not enough Studies about that. I am, as lots of people worried about eating genetic modified food. 

Marina: we are trying to study it more. If we make an advance on science, we can cure many mortal illnesses, and who doesn’t want to be healthy? 

Julia:  But if we modify human genetics, and we make it perfect, we will have lots of problems because of the food, and the place to live and for everything. In this World there's no place for all. And if we modify an illness like cancer, new illnesses will appear. 

Marina: But a very important thing is that we can always be young so we are going to live longer than ever. 

Julia: Yes that’s true but no one has ever done this before, it can be a complete disaster, have you ever thought about it. 

Marina: That’s why we have to try it first with some rats. Those experiments had been an exit. 

Julia: Well  I think this is so dangerous an unhuman....
